Sir Henry Morland
Grand Master of All Scottish Freemasonry in India (1875-1877, 1883-1891)
Lodge Morland was named in his honor as a tribute to his exemplary leadership and profound contributions to Freemasonry in India. As Grand Master, he played a pivotal role in the development of Masonic institutions across Bombay and the Indian subcontinent.

Early Life & Family
Henry Morland was born as the third son to John Morland, a prominent barrister in England, and was a descendant of the house of Cappelwaithe and Kingston Hall, West Moreland.
Naval & Professional Career
- Joined the Indian Navy in 1852 as an ensign on the ship "Akbar"
- Served until 1863, retiring as honorary Lieutenant
- Worked in the Indian Marines, Bombay Port Trust, and designed its flag
- Held roles such as Dock Master, Signal Officer, and Registrar of Shipping
- Chairman (Mayor) of Bombay Municipal Corporation (1886–1887)
- Fellow of Bombay University, Royal Geographical Society, and other associations
Knighthood & Death
Knighted by Queen Victoria in 1887. Died in a horse-riding accident at his Bombay home in 1891.
